Cadgers and Illegal Parking Rampant in Front of East Jakarta Mayor Office

The activities of cadgers and illegal parking on Jalan Sumarno or Jalan Sentra Timur Raya are making the area disorganizes and caused severe traffic congestion during rush hours in the morning and evening. Ironically, this situation happened exactly in front of East Jakarta Mayor office.

For us, Jalan Sumarno is the face of East Jakarta since the mayor’s office is there. We will transform that area to be like Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, traffic congestion happened because there are many vehicles parked on roadside. While on sidewalk, it is used by cadgers selling fruits, foods and drinks, helmets, until motorcycle workshop.

Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Benhard Hutajulu, admitted that Jalan Sumarno is one of congestion points in East Jakarta. He also regretted the fact that such condition happened in front of the mayor’s office.

Because of that, Hutajulu promised to control the cadgers as well as illegal parking on that road. “For us, Jalan Sumarno is the face of East Jakarta since the mayor’s office is there. We will transform that area to be like Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan,” he stated, Tuesday (6/24).

For that, 35 personnel will be put on standby for round a clock, so there would be no more vehicles parking haphazardly in that area. “They will be divided into two shifts. If there was vehicle violated it, the driver will be ticketed on location,” asserted Hutajulu.
